멜버른에서 개최되는 1월의 행사로 손꼽히는 미드 썸머 페트티벌은 멜버른에서 22일간 펼쳐지는 독특한 예술과 문화를 즐길 수 있는 행사입니다. 

멜버른 시티와 주변 지역에서 다양한 시각 예술, 공연, 영화, 파티, 스포츠, 사교행사 등 100여개가 넘는 공간에서 170개 이상의 미드썸머 페스티벌이 시작되며, 미드 마 카니발이나 미드 마 프라이드 등 다양한 무료 행사도 진행됩니다. 

1988년부터 시작된 미드썸머는 멜버른을 포함하여 호주에서 가장 중요한 예술 및 문화 축제 중 하나의 행사가 되었으며, 예술가들에겐 작품을 발표하고 홍보할 수 있는 행사로도 자리 잡고 있습니다.

호주의 날, 오스트레일리아 데이(Australia Day 2018)은 1788년 1월 26일 영국 제 1함대 선원들과 영국계 이주민들이 호주 록스 지역에 최초로 상륙하여 오늘날의 시드니를 개척한 것을 기념하기 위한 날입니다. 

호주의 최대 국경일 중 하루로 오스트레일리아 데이를 기념하기 위해 캔버라, 시드니, 멜버른, 브리즈번, 퍼스, 다윈 등 호주의 주요 도시에서 다양한 기념행사가 개최됩니다. 

오스트레일리아 원주민 단체는 이 날은 백인들이 호주를 침공한 날로 규정하고 있으며, 그들에겐 "추모의 날(Day of Mourning)", "침략의 날(Invasion Day)", "생존의 날(Survival Day)" 이라고 불려지고 있습니다.

호주 오픈 테니스가 곧 멜버른에서 열립니다. 국제 테니스 연맹(ITF)이 관장하는 대회로 세계 4대 메이저 테니스대회로 손꼽히기도 합니다.

1950년 처음으로 개최되어 1968년까지, 호주의 여러도시에서 대회를 치루다 1969년부터 프로에게 오픈하여 그 이후 멜버른에서 대회가 열리고 있습니다. 4대 그랜드슬램 중 역사가 가장 짧은만큼 매년 1월에 오픈되어 많은 사람들의 관심을 한몸에 받고 있는 멜버른의 손꼽히는 1월의 행사이기도 합니다.

The Food Truck Park presents SEASIDE STREET FOOD FESTIVAL October 11-15, 2017

The Food Truck Park is heading back to the Frankston waterfront this October.

The home of Melbourne street food, The Food Truck Park, is excited to announce a partnership with Frankston City Council with the 2017 Tourism Event Attraction Program. The Seaside Street Food Festival brings audiences a delicious line-up of Melbourne’s finest food trucks, twilight artist markets, a craft beer bar and entertainment over five days this October. 

The Frankston waterfront will come alive with a rotating roster of gourmet food trucks boasting Melbourne’s best in street food. The Seaside Street Food Festival highlights the culture, diversity and beauty of Frankston and attracts audiences from within the municipality and beyond. In 2016 the inaugural event was attended by 35,000 people over a five-day period and highlighted Frankston City Council’s continued effort to bring fantastic community driven events to the area. According to Frankston City Mayor, Cr Brian Cunial, the gourmet food trucks complemented by live entertainment and beautiful weather set a great scene for Frankston’s new Seaside Street Food Festival. “Visitors from all over the region made their way to Frankston’s pristine waterfront to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, with the overwhelming response to bring back the food truck fanaticism to our city, which we’re happy to deliver on” said the Mayor.

The popular street food festival is back and bigger than ever, with added event features including twilight artist markets and a bigger footprint to allow for the expected crowds. The Food Truck Park Director, Frank Rusitovski, is thrilled to be invited again back to Frankston “The food truck culture really resonates with the Frankston community, being relaxed, on-trend and something the whole family can enjoy. We believe in 2017 this event will reach an even bigger audience and attract more people to the area”.

Off the back of a hugely successful start in 2016, The Food Truck Park are excited to bring the street food movement into the peninsula again this year. With more reason than ever to visit Frankston, guests will Enjoy Every Moment with sunshine, seaside views and street food this October.
